Nha Trang Airport, Cam Ranh Airport

Nha Trang Airport (Cam Ranh) Vietnam

Nha Trang Airport may refer to the 2 airports serving Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa, Vietnam.

Cam Ranh International Airport (IATA: CXR, ICAO: VVCR) - for civil use

Nha Trang Air Base (IATA: NHA, ICAO: VVNT) - previously used for both civil and military purposes, but civil use has been transferred to Cam Ranh Airport

Cam Ranh International Airport (IATA: NHA, ICAO: VVCR) (Vietnamese: Sân bay Quốc tế Cam Ranh) is located on Cam Ranh Bay in Cam Ranh, a town in the province of Khanh Hoa in Vietnam. It serves the city of Nha Trang, which is 30 km (16 NM) from the airport.

Cam Ranh Airport was built by the United States Army during the Vietnam War, and operated by the United States Air Force for military purposes as Cam Ranh Air Base.

In 1972, the base was turned over to the South Vietnamese government. On April 3, 1975, North Vietnamese forces captured Cam Ranh Bay and all of its remaining facilities. From 1979 to 2002, the facility was used by the Soviet and then Russian Air Force because of a 25-year rent-free leasing treaty.

On May 19, 2004, after major reconstruction, the airport received its first commercial flight from Hanoi. It now handles all of Nha Trang's commercial flights, which previously headed to Nha Trang Airport. In 2007, Cam Ranh was upgraded to an international airport. In December, 2009 Cam Ranh International Airport was opened. The total invested capital is up to about 300 billion VND.

Nha Trang (Cam Ranh International Airport) is the main airport serving Nha Trang area. The airport is located in Cam Ranh, a town in the Khanh Hoa province in Vietnam. Nha Trang city is 30 km from the airport

This airport, located in Cam Ranh, now handles all domestic and international flights to Nha Trang. Old Nha Trang airport, located in Nha Trang city, is not used for commercial flights. In 2007, Cam Ranh was upgraded to an international airport. In December, 2009 Cam Ranh International Airport was opened.

Vietnam Airlines and Jetstar Pacific offer regular scheduled flights to and from Nha Trang (Cam Ranh) airport. Several airlines are offering charter or planning scheduled international flights.

The airport terminal provides various services, shopping, currency exchange, ATMs and transportation options.

Taxi Sharing - Nha Trang Airport

Taxi Sharing - Nha Trang Airport

Hello, I am looking for share mates to a taxi ride, on Sunday, October 5, on a Pacific flight from Nha Trang to Hanoi at 1125AM

Anyone who is interested please reply in EMAIL elijahbass@gmail.com or simply come at 0930AM to TRUC LINH Hotel on 27B Hung Vuong Str

>>>>>>>. This reply is too late for Elijah, but for other travellers: go to the old airport in town two hours and fifteen minutes before you flight leaves, and you can buy a ticket on the airport shuttle bus for 40,000DVN. Vietnam Airlines also has a taxi service that can pick you up at your hotel for 100,000DVN, and you can pay for this in advance at either of the two Vietnam Airlines offices in town.

I thought Jetstar Pacific stopped flying to Nha Trang last month. Have they decided to keep flying?

>>>> jetstar has mentioned cutting out the HCMc/NT route, but have no mention about the NT?Hanoi route
i imagine it is still going
there was not a definite about the 1st route either, just a mention of consideration, nothing else since

yeah, the shuttle is the way to go, beats the crazy taxi drivers

Mai Linh taxis and minibuses Nha Trang and Cam Ranh

Mai Linh taxis and minibuses Nha Trang and Cam Ranh

The taxi drivers employed in Nha Trang and mostly newly licensed and have not driven cars before. Most of the drivers I have had a cowboys. They have driven round in circles to increase the metered fare, driven through red lights, driven at 60kmp (above the speed limit) on the wrong side of the road, and have been generally poor drivers. When my wife questioned one driver about going through a red light, he laughed and answered, "Việt Nam như vậy" (( This is Vietnam.)) Consequently we avoid Mai Linh taxis.

On many occasions I have been out on the road and been passed by the Mai Linh minibus going to Dalat. The drivers invariably speed and drive aggressively. So I would never consider using that service either.

The situation has come to a headyesterday with a Mai Linh taxi collision killing two male Korean tourists, breaking the driver's neck and seriously injuring a female Vietnamese passenger.

I have had no problems with Mai Linh in Saigon, but suggest that while you are in Nha Trang and Can Ranh you should avoid using Mai Linh for your own safety.

>>>> ake a complaint to the company.

The last time I was in Hanoi I used CP taxi because they were stationed outside the hotel. I usually use Mai Linh, never had a problem. One morning I had a meeting at the same centre I'd been going to frequently for about 70,000vnd. A taxi took us all over the shop and when he finally delivered us we were so late we'd missed people who had gone to alot of trouble to meet with us, and the fare was close to 200,000vnd.

I was furious, and on our return to the hotel I made a complaint to management. Thinking that was the end of it I was very surprised to receive an email a week later saying that they had a letter of apology from CP taxi's and my 200,000vnd waiting to be collected.

There are two airpots in Nha Trang

Nha Trang airports /ha Trang and Cam Ranh

Nha Trang getting there

There are two airpots in Nha Trang: city airport and Cam Ranh (an old US Air Force base). The one in the city centre was closed May 16th 2005 and now is used only for military purpose. It is a pitty, because it is located just in the centre of Nha Trang, oposite many hotels and oposite the beach.

Cam Ranh airport is situated 30km south of Nha Trang city. It is linked to Nha Trang by the National Highway #1 (40 Km) or the new Pacific Coast highway (30 Km). Until 1970s it was used by United States Air Force for military purpose and later by Russians until 2002. It was open in 2004 for the first time for commercial national flights. The first commercial flight from Hanoi landed at Cam Ranh on May 19, 2004. And since December 2009 Cam Ranh started operating also international flights. Singapore's air carrier SilkAir plane was the first international flight to Cam Ranh.

Only in 2009 there were 700,000 passangers and among them 385,000 foreigners. Cam Ranh has a single runway considered to be the longest runway in Vietnam. Cam Ranh has a new terminal that can accommodate 800 passengers per hour during peak times (including 200 international ones). The new terminal is a two-storey building and features waiting areas for both business and economy class passengers, canteen, registration areas and a souvenir shop.

Authorities plan to build another runway by 2020, increasing its annual capacity to 5.5 million passengers and 100,000 tonnes of cargo.

Vietnam Airlines is expected to launch a direct route from Incheon (the Republic of Korea) to Cam Ranh

Nhatrang Airport Taxis, Cam Ranh Airport Taxi

Nhatrang Airport Taxi:

Cam Ranh Airport Taxi, Nha Trang Airport Taxi, Nhatrang Airport: Cam Ranh Airport (CXR), built on the grounds of an old American airbase in 2004, is located 30km from the city and serves only domestic destinations. Taxi fare from the airport to downtown locations is a fixed rate of 260,000 VND (with Nha Trang Taxi Company - maroon color taxi) though many hotels have their own buses. Do not offer to go by the meter here as it is about 100,000 VND more expensive than the fixed rate. A cheaper option is to take the airport bus at 40,000 VND to the old Nha Trang Airport.

After a major upgrade, the airport has since 2010 been renamed "Cam Ranh International Airport" and is looking to attact direct package tour flights from overseas.

Mai Linh taxis also offer fixed price fares to and from the airport, starting at 180,000dvn for a small, 4-seat taxi. For the adventurous traveller, take a short taxi ride to a Phuong Trang bus stop in Cam Ranh, then catch the Phuong Trang bus, 40,000 dvn to Nha Trang (about an hour). The bus stops and the buses are orange coloured.
